Starting as a 17 year old, RAY JOHNSON of Grand Island signed a professional contract playing in Washington, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Ohio before returning to Nebraska where he led the league 8 of 9 seasons in home runs playing with Kearney, Hastings, and Holdrege. He was Mr. Nebraska Independent League. G.I.’s Johnson headed to Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame |
